Indigo Studio

 ABOUT

Lisa Howard’s artistic practice is diverse but rooted in the idea of capturing natural forms through natural processes. This includes sun printing methods such as cyanotype and lumen prints, mono printing directly from the subject and tracing cast shadows in ink. Elements of these techniques are beyond the artist’s control and are therefore both creatively challenging and freeing, ensuring each artwork is unique and captures the process of making in the final form. You can purchase available artworks by contacting the studio, visiting us at an upcoming maker's market (see dates below) or in our online shop.

These techniques are also fun to learn and are suitable for a broad range of participants who can all achieve impressive results quite quickly. Please see the Workshops page for booking information

The Artist

The studio was previously situated in the beautiful rural estate of Wyresdale Park in the Forest of Boland, Lancashire. This space was an 'open door' artist's studio, gallery, art and craft materials store and a workshop venue. Lisa Howard adapted the space to include a photographer's darkroom for processing her sun-prints which were first bathed in sunlight in front of the studio on Lambing Lane. The studio is now mobile and pops up at Maker's Markets across Lancashire and beyond.
